District Wide Announcements
Welcome to Madison School District

Welcome to the Madison School District where great things are happening every day!

In 2013 Madison earned the prestigious AdvancEd district wide accreditation recognizing our student achievement and rigorous academic standards, as well as our educational programming and processes.

The combined efforts of our highly qualified and dedicated staff and our supportive community are producing results and fulfilling our mission to enable each of our students to be successful in an ever changing world.

Significant recent achievements include Madison Middle School’s recognition as a National Title I Distinguished School (one of only two such schools in Michigan), Madison Elementary and Madison Middle schools being designated as Reward Schools by the Michigan Department of Education, Madison High School earning the U.S. News & World Report Bronze Award, and Bridge Magazine recognizing Madison as one of the top ten rural and small schools in Michigan, and 18th overall when compared to all Michigan schools.

Our website is designed to provide an overview/introduction to our school district, as well as school calendar information. You are welcome to contact any of our building administrators for additional information.

Sincerely,
Ryan Rowe, Superintendent

MADISON SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVES GRANT
Madison School District will receive a $333,765 grant from the Michigan Department of Education to provide support to its new Balanced School Year program.  The Section 31b – Year-Round School Grant is a competitive award designed to assist school districts in implementing a year-round education program.  The state legislature appropriated $2 million for the Year-Round School Grant with funds to be used for necessary modifications to instructional facilities and other nonrecurring costs associated with the start-up of year-round instruction.

The District intends to use the grant funds to replace a multi-zone rooftop HVAC unit that serves the library, office, and four classrooms.  A second HVAC system will be installed in the newly renovated cafeteria and music rooms. A bus will also be purchased.

MADISON TEACHER VISITS ARCHAEOLOGICAL DIG

Mr. Bill Wilharms recently participated in a National Endowment for the Humanities Workshop at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center in Cortez, Colorado.  He was a part of a team of educators, doctors, and members of the Pueblo and Ute Tribes who spent a week researching the history of the Ancestral Pueblo Peoples and visiting the Cliff Dwellings in southwest Colorado.

The group participated in lectures and discussions about teaching anthropology and archeology, visited excavation sites, and learned how researchers answer questions about our unwritten past. During their research, the team found artifacts that date back to the 700-1100 C.E. time period.

Mr. Wilharms teaches AP World History, AP American History, US History, World History and Military History and looks forward to sharing his experience with his students.
